A trip to Disneyland is going to be a trip to remember, there’s something about it that is like no other.
Seeing your favorite characters come to life at Disneyland and taking photos with them creates the best memories.
It also makes you wonder if you can dress up as your favorite character too and go inside Disneyland dressed as them.
Make sure you don’t get stuck outside and not allowed in by reading the answers below.
Can You Cosplay At Disneyland?
It depends!
First and foremost, how old are you?
Disneyland has particular rules based on your age. The short and sweet answer is if you are under 14 years old you are allowed to cosplay. (But rules apply)
Therefore, if you are any older than 14 years old, you are not allowed to wear a full cosplay at Disneyland. (Take note that I said “full cosplay” I’ll explain this in further detail later on in the article)
But! There is an exception to this rule. If there is a special event on at Disneyland such as The Disneyland Halloween Party then age does not matter. Anyone is allowed to cosplay at these special events (but once again there are rules to this as well).

This is a fairly set of simple rules from the Disneyland website, but the rules for guests aged 14 years and over are a bit more complicated.
Rules For Guests Aged 14 Years And Older For Cosplaying At Disneyland
Technically, based on the Disneyland website dress codes you are not allowed to wear costumes if you are 14 years old and over. However, you are allowed to wear parts of your costume/cosplay. This is where you need to read the Disney rules carefully to determine which parts you may be able to wear if you visit. I have listed these rules below:
– Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
https://disneyland.disney.go.com/faq/parks/dress/
– Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts and hats are acceptable.
– Acceptable accessories include: transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords and tutus.
– Headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.
– Masks of any kind may not be worn, except for medical purposes.
So even though you can’t wear your full cosplay to Disneyland (if you are over 14 years old) you can at least wear parts of it which is pretty cool, you can even bring your own light saber along!
Rules For Cosplaying At Disneyland During A Special Event
Disneyland have stated on their rules/regulations page that only during special events guests 14 years and older are allowed to wear full cosplays.
The rules for special events are as follows:
There are specific costume guidelines for special events such as the Disneyland Halloween Party:
https://disneyland.disney.go.com/faq/parks/dress/
– All Guests may dress as their favorite character, but may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.
– Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable or violent. Costumes may not contain any weapons that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
– Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.
– Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening.
– Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground (e.g., full-length Princess dresses)
Most importantly, remember that Disneyland can and will refuse entry if their guidelines are not adhered to. Please be sure to read through their rules carefully determine if you are allowed to cosplay and if your cosplay is suitable to be allowed in!
